A Legacy Story & Obituary Preparation Workshop
Preserve a life story with clarity, care, and dignity.
This guided workshop supports participants in beginning to document a meaningful life story-whether they are writing about their own life or preparing to capture the story of a parent, grandparent, spouse, relative, or other loved one with their input and participation whenever possible.
The purpose is not simply to prepare an obituary, It is to preserve the context, character, and meaning behind a person's life before those details are forgotten or left for others to reconstruct.

The Legacy Story Interview & Recording Session is a private, guided conversation designed to preserve a person’s memories, values, family history, important experiences, and messages for future generations.
The conversation is structured with care so the individual can share the story in their own voice.

Lorene also curates custom workshops based on an organization's needs, audience, and goals. Programs may be offered virtually or in person.

The Olivine Legacy Group was inspired by Lorene’s great aunt, known affectionately as Auntie Ollie. Auntie Ollie was a founding member of the Council of Wise Jewels at St. Paul Community Baptist Church. Her designated jewel was Peridot, a designation for women over the age of 70.
The Women’s Jewel Ministry seeks to educate and empower women of all ages, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds through programs focused on managing daily life through the study and application of the Word of God.
Auntie Ollie lived her faith through preparation, dignity, wisdom, and care. Before her passing, she thoughtfully organized her insurance information, final arrangements, cemetery information, obituary, clothing, jewelry, hairpiece, makeup, and personal wishes.
When Auntie Ollie died at the age of 94 in February 2026, her preparation did not remove the family’s grief. But it removed much of the uncertainty.
We were grieving, but we were not guessing.
Her Peridot designation became part of the inspiration for the Olivine Legacy name. Peridot comes from the mineral olivine, while the olive branch represents peace, honor, and hope. Together, these ideas reflect a crown of care passed from one generation to the next. Lorene created The Olivine Legacy Group to help other families experience the clarity, dignity, and peace that thoughtful preparation gave her own family.

Do I need to be preparing for death to participate?
No. These services are designed to preserve stories and organize meaningful information throughout life
Is the workshop only about writing an obituary?
No. Participants also document values, relationships, accomplishments, faith, traditions, photographs, and life lessons.
Can I attend for myself?
Yes. Individuals are encouraged to begin documenting their own stories and preferences
Can I record the story of a parent or grandparent?
Yes, with the individual’s knowledge and participation. Private family sessions may also be requested.
Are virtual workshops available?
Yes. Virtual and local in-person workshop options are available.
Can a church sponsor a workshop?
Yes. Churches and community organizations may sponsor a workshop so members can participate at no cost or at a reduced cost.
Is this estate planning?
No. Olivine Legacy does not provide legal advice or estate-planning services.
Does Olivine Legacy provide grief counseling?
No. Olivine Legacy is not a mental-health or grief-counseling practice. Clients may be referred to
qualified professionals when appropriate.
The Olivine Legacy Group provides education, information-organization support, planning tools, family-conversation guidance, legacy-story support, readiness support, and coordination support.
